# Math. vs University Math

The clearest difference is monetization model: University Math at freemium against Math.'s subscription. University Math also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 74%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Math.'s advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Math. sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and University Math sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

University Math holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Math. has 1.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 74% of Math.'s written reviews are positive against 100% of University Math's.

Math. ships an update every 3 months, University Math every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
