# SpyCam! vs HEX Editor

The clearest difference is rating: SpyCam! at 3.9 against HEX Editor's 1.7. SpyCam! also leads on iOS requirement (9.3 vs 12.0). HEX Editor's advantage is monetization model (free vs paid) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 15 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

SpyCam! costs $2.99 and HEX Editor $2.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SpyCam! holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 1.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 7 and 24 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of SpyCam!'s written reviews are positive against 24% of HEX Editor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SpyCam! ships an update every 15 months, HEX Editor every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 2, 2026 respectively.
