# Ref Tools vs RepTool

The clearest difference is rating: RepTool at 5.0 against Ref Tools's 3.9. Ref Tools's advantage is review sentiment (58% vs 33%) and ratings volume (52 vs 5). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

RepTool holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ref Tools has 52 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Ref Tools's written reviews are positive against 33% of RepTool's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ref Tools ships an update every 5 weeks, RepTool monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
