# Hallmark+ vs SpotLight Theater

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SpotLight Theater at 100% against Hallmark+'s 8%. SpotLight Theater also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 8). Hallmark+'s advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 22 months) and ratings volume (12K vs 1). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hallmark+ sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. SpotLight Theater asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hallmark+ holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hallmark+ has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 8% of Hallmark+'s written reviews are positive against 100% of SpotLight Theater's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hallmark+ ships an update monthly, SpotLight Theater every 22 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
