# Encrypt.me vs Speed Tester

Encrypt.me and Speed Tester both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Speed Tester's written reviews are positive against 52% of Encrypt.me's. Encrypt.me's advantage is ratings volume (5.8K vs 20) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encrypt.me sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Speed Tester sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Encrypt.me against 4.5 for Speed Tester. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypt.me has 5.8K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 52% of Encrypt.me's written reviews are positive against 100% of Speed Tester's.
