# Encrypt.me vs VPN Hypernet

Encrypt.me and VPN Hypernet both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 72% of VPN Hypernet's written reviews are positive against 52% of Encrypt.me's. Encrypt.me's advantage is ratings volume (5.7K vs 367) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encrypt.me sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and VPN Hypernet sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Encrypt.me against 4.5 for VPN Hypernet. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypt.me has 5.7K ratings behind it against 367, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 52% of Encrypt.me's written reviews are positive against 72% of VPN Hypernet's.

Encrypt.me ships an update every 2 months, VPN Hypernet every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
