# Encrypt.me vs IPsec VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: IPsec VPN at 94% against Encrypt.me's 52%. IPsec VPN also leads on ads (none vs shown). Encrypt.me's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (5.7K vs 41). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encrypt.me sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and IPsec VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Encrypt.me holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypt.me has 5.7K ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Encrypt.me's written reviews are positive against 94% of IPsec VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Encrypt.me ships an update every 2 months, IPsec VPN monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
