# Encrypt.me vs Cloak

The clearest difference is rating: Encrypt.me at 4.5 against Cloak's 3.8. Encrypt.me also leads on review sentiment (52% vs 13%) and ratings volume (5.7K vs 118). Cloak's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encrypt.me sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Cloak sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Encrypt.me holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypt.me has 5.7K ratings behind it against 118, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 52% of Encrypt.me's written reviews are positive against 13% of Cloak's.

Encrypt.me ships an update every 2 months, Cloak fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
