# Dictionary & Translator vs e

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: e at none against Dictionary & Translator's 8. e also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Dictionary & Translator's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (13K vs 3). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dictionary & Translator sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. e asks for nothing beyond the download.

e holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dictionary & Translator has 13K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Dictionary & Translator's written reviews are positive against 100% of e's.

Dictionary & Translator ships an update fortnightly, e every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
