# RFE/RL vs VOA Burmese

The clearest difference is review sentiment: RFE/RL at 68% against VOA Burmese's 34%. VOA Burmese's advantage is ratings volume (1.5K vs 69) and rating (4.4 vs 4.2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

VOA Burmese holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VOA Burmese has 1.5K ratings behind it against 69, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of RFE/RL's written reviews are positive against 34% of VOA Burmese's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RFE/RL ships an update every 2 months, VOA Burmese every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
