# Alarm Clock HD vs When

Alarm Clock HD and When both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 90% of When's written reviews are positive against 32% of Alarm Clock HD's. When also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 11) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). Alarm Clock HD's advantage is ratings volume (104K vs 28). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Alarm Clock HD sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. When asks for nothing beyond the download.

When holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alarm Clock HD has 104K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 32% of Alarm Clock HD's written reviews are positive against 90% of When's.

Alarm Clock HD ships an update fortnightly, When weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
