# Microsoft OneDrive vs Google Docs

Microsoft OneDrive and Google Docs both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 70% of Google Docs's written reviews are positive against 19% of Microsoft OneDrive's. Google Docs also leads on ratings volume (3.3M vs 488K). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Microsoft OneDrive sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Google Docs sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $199.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Microsoft OneDrive against 4.8 for Google Docs. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google Docs has 3.3M ratings behind it against 488K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 19% of Microsoft OneDrive's written reviews are positive against 70% of Google Docs's.

Microsoft OneDrive ships an update every 11 days, Google Docs weekly. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
