# GPS & Maps vs GPS Tools®

The clearest difference is ads: GPS Tools® at none against GPS & Maps's shown. GPS & Maps's advantage is ratings volume (2.3K vs 337) and review sentiment (63% vs 54%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GPS & Maps sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and GPS Tools® sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 6 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GPS Tools® holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS & Maps has 2.3K ratings behind it against 337, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of GPS & Maps's written reviews are positive against 54% of GPS Tools®'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GPS & Maps ships an update monthly, GPS Tools® every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
