# Spelling Test vs Spelling Bee

The clearest difference is rating: Spelling Bee at 4.6 against Spelling Test's 2.5. Spelling Bee also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (791 vs 2). Spelling Test's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 41%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spelling Test sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Spelling Bee sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spelling Bee holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spelling Bee has 791 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Spelling Test's written reviews are positive against 41% of Spelling Bee's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Spelling Test ships an update every 4 months, Spelling Bee weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
