# LetterSchool vs Alphablocks World

The clearest difference is monetization model: LetterSchool at free with in-app purchases against Alphablocks World's subscription. LetterSchool also leads on review sentiment (54% vs 29%) and ratings volume (17K vs 266). Alphablocks World's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LetterSchool sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Alphablocks World sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LetterSchool holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LetterSchool has 17K ratings behind it against 266, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 54% of LetterSchool's written reviews are positive against 29% of Alphablocks World's.

LetterSchool ships an update every 2 months, Alphablocks World fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
