# Repeat Timer vs Hourly Chime

The clearest difference is rating: Repeat Timer at 4.5 against Hourly Chime's 3.7. Repeat Timer also leads on ratings volume (7.4K vs 21). Hourly Chime's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 7). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Repeat Timer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Hourly Chime asks for nothing beyond the download.

Repeat Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Repeat Timer has 7.4K ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Repeat Timer's written reviews are positive against 72% of Hourly Chime's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Repeat Timer ships an update every 3 weeks, Hourly Chime fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
