# STAR 95.9 vs The CW

The clearest difference is review sentiment: STAR 95.9 at 50% against The CW's 11%. STAR 95.9 also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). The CW's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (22K vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The CW holds the better App Store score, 3.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The CW has 22K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of STAR 95.9's written reviews are positive against 11% of The CW's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

STAR 95.9 ships an update every 11 months, The CW monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
