# HARDLINE Chat vs Gain

The clearest difference is rating: Gain at 5.0 against HARDLINE Chat's 2.8. HARDLINE Chat's advantage is update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 12 months) and ratings volume (20 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Gain holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HARDLINE Chat has 20 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HARDLINE Chat ships an update every 4 weeks, Gain every 12 months. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
