# El Universal + vs Vanguardia HD

El Universal + and Vanguardia HD both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Vanguardia HD's written reviews are positive against 63% of El Universal +'s. Vanguardia HD also leads on ratings volume (14 vs 2) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.4). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. El Universal + sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Vanguardia HD sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for El Universal + against 5.0 for Vanguardia HD. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Vanguardia HD has 14 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of El Universal +'s written reviews are positive against 100% of Vanguardia HD's.

El Universal + ships an update every 5 weeks, Vanguardia HD every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
