# TimeboxApp vs Smart Noter

The clearest difference is rating: Smart Noter at 4.7 against TimeboxApp's 3.5. Smart Noter also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (2.4K vs 2). TimeboxApp's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 14) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smart Noter sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. TimeboxApp asks for nothing beyond the download.

Smart Noter holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart Noter has 2.4K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of TimeboxApp's written reviews are positive against 41% of Smart Noter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TimeboxApp ships an update every 6 months, Smart Noter every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
