# Akinator VIP vs TVTropes

The clearest difference is price: TVTropes at Free against Akinator VIP's $3.99. TVTropes also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 weeks). Akinator VIP's advantage is ratings volume (3.9K vs 379) and review sentiment (58% vs 46%). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

TVTropes is free to download; Akinator VIP costs $3.99 up front. Akinator VIP sells 9 one-off in-app purchases and TVTropes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TVTropes holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Akinator VIP has 3.9K ratings behind it against 379, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Akinator VIP's written reviews are positive against 46% of TVTropes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Akinator VIP ships an update every 4 weeks, TVTropes every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
