# RTÉ Player vs Cúla4

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cúla4 at 100% against RTÉ Player's 46%. Cúla4 also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). RTÉ Player's advantage is ratings volume (6.3K vs 2) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

RTÉ Player holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RTÉ Player has 6.3K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of RTÉ Player's written reviews are positive against 100% of Cúla4's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RTÉ Player ships an update every 3 weeks, Cúla4 every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
