# RTÉ Player vs TG4+

The clearest difference is rating: RTÉ Player at 4.7 against TG4+'s 3.9. RTÉ Player also leads on ratings volume (6.3K vs 19) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

RTÉ Player holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RTÉ Player has 6.3K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of RTÉ Player's written reviews are positive against 53% of TG4+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RTÉ Player ships an update every 3 weeks, TG4+ every 2 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
