# Weather Underground vs WDliveapp

The clearest difference is price: Weather Underground at Free against WDliveapp's $0.99. Weather Underground also leads on rating (3.9 vs 1.7) and ratings volume (32K vs 3). WDliveapp's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Weather Underground is free to download; WDliveapp costs $0.99 up front. Weather Underground sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. WDliveapp asks for nothing beyond the download.

Weather Underground holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 1.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Weather Underground has 32K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of Weather Underground's written reviews are positive against 45% of WDliveapp's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
