# Taskboard vs Focus Matrix

The clearest difference is ads: Taskboard at none against Focus Matrix's shown. Taskboard also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.0). Focus Matrix's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 46). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Taskboard sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Focus Matrix sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Focus Matrix holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focus Matrix has 1.6K ratings behind it against 46, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Taskboard's written reviews are positive against 82% of Focus Matrix's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Taskboard ships an update every 2 months, Focus Matrix every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on June 9, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
