# File Converter vs SoundConvert

The clearest difference is rating: SoundConvert at 5.0 against File Converter's 3.8. SoundConvert also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 3 months). File Converter's advantage is ratings volume (479 vs 2) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. File Converter sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per 7 days and SoundConvert sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SoundConvert holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: File Converter has 479 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 47% of File Converter's written reviews are positive against 50% of SoundConvert's.

File Converter ships an update every 3 months, SoundConvert every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
