# Altitude & Elevation vs Altimeter

The clearest difference is update cadence: Altitude & Elevation at every 2 weeks against Altimeter's every 7 months. Altitude & Elevation also leads on ratings volume (43K vs 1.3K) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Altitude & Elevation sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Altimeter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Altitude & Elevation against 4.6 for Altimeter. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Altitude & Elevation has 43K ratings behind it against 1.3K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 56% and 56% positive.

Altitude & Elevation ships an update every 2 weeks, Altimeter every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
