# SikhNet Play vs Akal Live

The clearest difference is update cadence: SikhNet Play at monthly against Akal Live's every 9 months. SikhNet Play also leads on ratings volume (1.9K vs 5) and rating (4.9 vs 4.6). Akal Live's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.4 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SikhNet Play holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SikhNet Play has 1.9K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of SikhNet Play's written reviews are positive against 95% of Akal Live's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SikhNet Play ships an update monthly, Akal Live every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
