# Satellite Transponders vs Satellite Pointer

The clearest difference is ads: Satellite Transponders at none against Satellite Pointer's shown. Satellite Transponders also leads on review sentiment (58% vs 38%). Satellite Pointer's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Satellite Transponders sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Satellite Pointer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Satellite Pointer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Satellite Pointer has 3.3K ratings behind it against 288, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Satellite Transponders's written reviews are positive against 38% of Satellite Pointer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Satellite Transponders ships an update every 4 months, Satellite Pointer monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
