# Werdsmith vs Word Counter Tool

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Word Counter Tool at none against Werdsmith's 7. Word Counter Tool also leads on review sentiment (91% vs 82%) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.0). Werdsmith's advantage is ratings volume (8K vs 101) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Werdsmith sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Word Counter Tool asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Werdsmith against 4.8 for Word Counter Tool. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Werdsmith has 8K ratings behind it against 101, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of Werdsmith's written reviews are positive against 91% of Word Counter Tool's.

Werdsmith ships an update fortnightly, Word Counter Tool monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
