# Werdsmith vs Authora

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Werdsmith at 8.1K against Authora's 4. Authora's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 82%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Werdsmith sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Authora sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Werdsmith holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Werdsmith has 8.1K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Werdsmith's written reviews are positive against 100% of Authora's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
