# Werdsmith vs TypePress

The clearest difference is rating: Werdsmith at 4.7 against TypePress's 2.5. Werdsmith also leads on ratings volume (8.1K vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Werdsmith sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and TypePress sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Werdsmith holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Werdsmith has 8.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Werdsmith ships an update every 10 days, TypePress every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
