# Magic Number SD vs Mind Scanner Magic

The clearest difference is rating: Mind Scanner Magic at 3.4 against Magic Number SD's 2.0. Mind Scanner Magic also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Magic Number SD's advantage is review sentiment (60% vs 47%) and update cadence (every 17 months vs every 35 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mind Scanner Magic holds the better App Store score, 3.4 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mind Scanner Magic has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Magic Number SD's written reviews are positive against 47% of Mind Scanner Magic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Magic Number SD ships an update every 17 months, Mind Scanner Magic every 35 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
