# Piano Diary vs EXPANSION EXPLORER

The clearest difference is rating: EXPANSION EXPLORER at 3.0 against Piano Diary's 2.5. EXPANSION EXPLORER also leads on update cadence (every 5 months vs every 12 months). Piano Diary's advantage is ratings volume (24 vs 2) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

EXPANSION EXPLORER holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Piano Diary has 24 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of Piano Diary's written reviews are positive against 20% of EXPANSION EXPLORER's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Piano Diary ships an update every 12 months, EXPANSION EXPLORER every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 22, 2026.
