# GPS Tour vs GPS Tools®

The clearest difference is rating: GPS Tools® at 4.6 against GPS Tour's 3.6. GPS Tools® also leads on ratings volume (337 vs 27) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). GPS Tour's advantage is review sentiment (81% vs 54%) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GPS Tour sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and GPS Tools® sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 6 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GPS Tools® holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Tools® has 337 ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of GPS Tour's written reviews are positive against 54% of GPS Tools®'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GPS Tour ships an update every 2 months, GPS Tools® every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
