# Irish Echo vs Duncan Banner

The clearest difference is rating: Duncan Banner at 4.3 against Irish Echo's 3.7. Duncan Banner also leads on update cadence (every 4 months vs every 30 months) and ratings volume (19 vs 3). Irish Echo's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 75%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Irish Echo sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Duncan Banner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Duncan Banner holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Duncan Banner has 19 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Irish Echo's written reviews are positive against 75% of Duncan Banner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Irish Echo ships an update every 30 months, Duncan Banner every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
