# MLB vs Speed Gun for Baseball

The clearest difference is ads: Speed Gun for Baseball at none against MLB's shown. Speed Gun for Baseball also leads on review sentiment (64% vs 40%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). MLB's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (956K vs 443). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MLB sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Speed Gun for Baseball sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MLB holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MLB has 956K ratings behind it against 443, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of MLB's written reviews are positive against 64% of Speed Gun for Baseball's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MLB ships an update every 9 days, Speed Gun for Baseball every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
