# Stop Animator vs Stop Motion Maker

The clearest difference is rating: Stop Animator at 4.4 against Stop Motion Maker's 3.8. Stop Animator also leads on ratings volume (924 vs 51). Stop Motion Maker's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Stop Animator sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Stop Motion Maker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Stop Animator holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Stop Animator has 924 ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Stop Animator's written reviews are positive against 49% of Stop Motion Maker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Stop Animator ships an update every 2 months, Stop Motion Maker every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 4, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
