# MyGIS vs Paper Maps

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MyGIS at 100% against Paper Maps's 43%. MyGIS also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 8). Paper Maps's advantage is rating (3.9 vs 1.0) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paper Maps sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. MyGIS asks for nothing beyond the download.

Paper Maps holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paper Maps has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of MyGIS's written reviews are positive against 43% of Paper Maps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MyGIS ships an update every 4 months, Paper Maps every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
