# File Viewer vs EMLens

The clearest difference is rating: EMLens at 4.0 against File Viewer's 3.4. EMLens also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 6 months) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). File Viewer's advantage is review sentiment (38% vs 0%) and in-app purchases (none vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EMLens sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. File Viewer asks for nothing beyond the download.

EMLens holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: File Viewer has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of File Viewer's written reviews are positive against 0% of EMLens's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

File Viewer ships an update every 6 months, EMLens monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
