# File Viewer vs TIFF Viewer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: TIFF Viewer at 100% against File Viewer's 38%. TIFF Viewer also leads on rating (4.0 vs 3.4) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 6 months). File Viewer's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TIFF Viewer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. File Viewer asks for nothing beyond the download.

TIFF Viewer holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: File Viewer has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 38% of File Viewer's written reviews are positive against 100% of TIFF Viewer's.

File Viewer ships an update every 6 months, TIFF Viewer every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and September 25, 2026 respectively.
