# Sous Chef vs KitCon

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Sous Chef at 90% against KitCon's 29%. Sous Chef also leads on rating (4.5 vs 3.9) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sous Chef sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and KitCon sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sous Chef holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sous Chef has 338 ratings behind it against 45, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 90% of Sous Chef's written reviews are positive against 29% of KitCon's.

Sous Chef ships an update every 3 months, KitCon every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
