# Liberty Player vs Astari

The clearest difference is rating: Astari at 4.5 against Liberty Player's 1.5. Astari also leads on update cadence (every 11 days vs every 10 months) and ratings volume (447 vs 8). Liberty Player's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Astari sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Liberty Player asks for nothing beyond the download.

Astari holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Astari has 447 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Liberty Player's written reviews are positive against 41% of Astari's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Liberty Player ships an update every 10 months, Astari every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
