# Shogi Wars vs Pro Shogi

The clearest difference is rating: Shogi Wars at 4.7 against Pro Shogi's 4.2. Shogi Wars also leads on ratings volume (136 vs 10). Pro Shogi's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shogi Wars sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.49 per month and Pro Shogi sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shogi Wars holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shogi Wars has 136 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 47% of Shogi Wars's written reviews are positive against 41% of Pro Shogi's.

Shogi Wars ships an update every 4 weeks, Pro Shogi every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
