# Tri vs GearTech OS

The clearest difference is ads: GearTech OS at none against Tri's shown. GearTech OS also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 12 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Tri against 5.0 for GearTech OS. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GearTech OS has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Tri ships an update every 12 months, GearTech OS every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
