# Torah vs essentielle

The clearest difference is ads: essentielle at none against Torah's shown. essentielle also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Torah's advantage is ratings volume (30 vs 2). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Torah against 5.0 for essentielle. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Torah has 30 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of Torah's written reviews are positive against 100% of essentielle's.

Torah ships an update every 6 months, essentielle every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
