# DistancePinner vs Map Locations

The clearest difference is ads: Map Locations at none against DistancePinner's shown. Map Locations also leads on review sentiment (75% vs 63%) and iOS requirement (14.1 vs 17.0). DistancePinner's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DistancePinner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Map Locations sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DistancePinner holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 275 and 105 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of DistancePinner's written reviews are positive against 75% of Map Locations's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DistancePinner ships an update fortnightly, Map Locations every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
