# RTL play vs CANAL+

The clearest difference is rating: RTL play at 4.3 against CANAL+'s 3.8. RTL play also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 13). CANAL+'s advantage is ratings volume (516 vs 30) and device support (5 vs 3). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CANAL+ sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. RTL play asks for nothing beyond the download.

RTL play holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CANAL+ has 516 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of RTL play's written reviews are positive against 33% of CANAL+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RTL play ships an update every 11 days, CANAL+ fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 20, 2026.
