# A+ Spelling Test vs Spelling Bee

The clearest difference is rating: Spelling Bee at 4.6 against A+ Spelling Test's 3.4. Spelling Bee also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (781 vs 253). A+ Spelling Test's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 40%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. A+ Spelling Test sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Spelling Bee sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spelling Bee holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 253 and 781 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of A+ Spelling Test's written reviews are positive against 40% of Spelling Bee's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
