# Barcode Scanners vs ContriApp

The clearest difference is rating: Barcode Scanners at 4.6 against ContriApp's 4.0. Barcode Scanners also leads on ratings volume (810 vs 1). ContriApp's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 88%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Barcode Scanners holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Barcode Scanners has 810 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of Barcode Scanners's written reviews are positive against 100% of ContriApp's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Barcode Scanners ships an update every 5 months, ContriApp every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 27, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
